	26-28.10.2008	Mainz (D), Kickoff meeting of the new EC FP7 project MEGAPOLI. The project aims to assess the impact of megacities and large air-pollution hot-spots emissions on local, regional and global air quality. MEGAPOLI will also investigate the interactions and feedbacks among megacity air quality, local, regional climate, and global climate change. ARIANET participation will focus on the investigation of the Po valley area and Mexico City (in cooperation with the University of Iowa) effects on the surrounding regions.

	16.4.2008	The first of April the aircrafts of the ARCTAS sampling campaign took off from Fairbanks, Alaska. As a NASA contribution to the International IGAC/POLARCAT Experiment, the ARCTAS mission aims to unleash the potential of NASA space-based observations for Arctic research by providing retrieval algorithm validation and correlative information uniquely accessible from aircraft platforms. The University of Iowa is present as one of the modeling teams which provide meteorological and chemical forecasts during the day-to-day flight planning. Arianet is collaborating with the University of Iowa group for the production of meteorological forecasts by means of the NWP model WRF ARW, for results validation and for the implementation of Google Earth based data visualization. http://www.cgrer.uiowa.edu/ARCTAS/
