It allows for the estimation of emissions from road traffic considering various parameters, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vehicle Fleet Composition<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Road Type<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Average Speed<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ambient Temperature<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Slope<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Average Load for Heavy Commercial Vehicles<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Degradation Due to Vehicle Age<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, TREFIC incorporates algorithms for handling traffic congestion, making it suitable for assessing emissions in scenarios characterized by very low speeds and frequent &#8220;stop and go&#8221; situations (e.g., traffic lights, toll barriers).<\/p>\n<p><strong>It addresses all major pollutants, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Carbon Monoxide (CO)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Non-Methane Organic Compounds (NMOCs)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Greenhouse Gases<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Heavy Metals<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Many Other Micropollutants<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For fine particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), TREFIC includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Emission Calculations:<\/strong> From abrasion of tires, brakes, and road surfaces.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Re-suspension Calculations:<\/strong> Using the US-EPA method.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TREFIC is highly flexible in terms of output format.
