{"id":12410,"date":"2025-05-14T16:33:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T14:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/?page_id=12410"},"modified":"2025-05-14T16:43:42","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T14:43:42","slug":"scan360","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/prodotti-2\/scan360\/","title":{"rendered":"Scan360"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"475\">Thanks to a measurement campaign conducted along the perimeter of the plant, the <strong data-start=\"133\" data-end=\"157\">SCAN360 \u2013 QUICK SCAN<\/strong> technology for calculating CH\u2084 emissions is a method capable of determining the concentrations of the emission plume downwind.<br data-start=\"284\" data-end=\"287\" \/>The results obtained by <strong data-start=\"311\" data-end=\"340\">SCAN 360 SMART INSPECTION<\/strong> are combined with meteorological data and site geometry information to estimate gas emissions through <strong data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"474\">inverse dispersion modeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"477\" data-end=\"781\">The inverse dispersion is carried out using a <strong data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"554\">Lagrangian dispersion model<\/strong> called <strong data-start=\"562\" data-end=\"583\">MICRO-SWIFT-SPRAY<\/strong>, developed by <strong data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"618\">SUEZ AIR&amp;CLIMATE<\/strong>, which can estimate CH\u2084 emissions for the entire site, as well as provide a list of the main sources along with their respective contributions to total emissions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"vc_single_image-img attachment-full alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Immagine1.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 744px) 100vw, 744px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Immagine1.jpg 744w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Immagine1-300x174.jpg 300w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Immagine1-400x232.jpg 400w\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"783\" data-end=\"1198\">The two technologies are complementary: <strong data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"845\">SCAN360 Quick-Scan<\/strong> enables a <strong data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"913\">global assessment of emissions and their contribution<\/strong> using inverse modeling, while <strong data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"973\">SCAN 360 Smart Inspection<\/strong> (based on the use of highly accurate infrared sensors like <strong data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1047\">LGR\/Li-COR<\/strong> and advanced numerical dispersion models) <strong data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1150\">identifies and precisely quantifies major emission leaks<\/strong>, offering essential information for mitigation.<\/p>\n<p>This method was initially developed for <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1282\">non-hazardous waste storage facilities<\/strong> under the <strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1324\">European project WasteMiti2<\/strong>, funded by the European Union\u2019s main initiative created by the <strong data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1445\">European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)<\/strong> to address climate change through systemic innovation (<strong data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1520\">EIT Climate-KIC<\/strong>). The project developed and validated the method for non-hazardous waste treatment facilities and later for <strong data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1660\">wastewater treatment plants<\/strong>. The method was also <strong data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1707\">evaluated and labeled<\/strong> by the <strong data-start=\"1715\" data-end=\"1743\">Solar Impulse Foundation<\/strong> under the name <strong data-start=\"1759\" data-end=\"1788\">&#8220;Rapid Scanning Service.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1943\">Indeed, the primary goal of the <strong data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1845\">SCAN360 QUICK-SCAN<\/strong> method is to rapidly &#8220;scan&#8221; the site\u2019s emissions to <strong data-start=\"1898\" data-end=\"1942\">quantify them and identify major sources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1945\" data-end=\"2268\">The <strong data-start=\"1949\" data-end=\"1974\">concentration mapping<\/strong> is initially established by dynamically measuring CH\u2084 concentrations in ambient air using <strong data-start=\"2065\" data-end=\"2113\">high-precision, high-frequency spectrometers<\/strong> (LGR\/Li-COR sensors). Following the measurements, the emission sources and their respective emission flows can be determined through <strong data-start=\"2247\" data-end=\"2267\">inverse modeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"vc_single_image-img attachment-large alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe-729x1024.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe-729x1024.png 729w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe-214x300.png 214w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe-768x1078.png 768w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe-400x562.png 400w, https:\/\/old.aria-net.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/mappe.png 1089w\" alt=\"\" width=\"539\" height=\"757\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2270\" data-end=\"2362\">The steps for applying this technology (as applied to specific case studies) are as follows:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2364\" data-end=\"2652\">After a planning phase<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0involving site visits and recording CH\u2084 concentrations, meteorological conditions, etc., <strong data-start=\"2476\" data-end=\"2498\">on-site monitoring<\/strong> of CH\u2084 emissions is conducted at the <strong data-start=\"2536\" data-end=\"2571\">Valdeming\u00f3mez (Parque Foresta<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2364\" data-end=\"2652\"><strong data-start=\"2536\" data-end=\"2571\">l)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2576\" data-end=\"2591\">Las Dehesas<\/strong> landfill surfaces using <strong data-start=\"2616\" data-end=\"2649\">LGR\/Li-COR infrared analyzers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2653\" data-end=\"2896\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2653\" data-end=\"2754\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2655\" data-end=\"2754\">Mapping of CH\u2084 concentrations on the landfill surface based on <strong data-start=\"2718\" data-end=\"2742\">in situ measurements<\/strong> with LGR.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2755\" data-end=\"2896\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2757\" data-end=\"2896\">Quantification of total emissions via <strong data-start=\"2795\" data-end=\"2815\">inverse modeling<\/strong> to calculate CH\u2084 emission values and their distribution for each surface source.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2898\" data-end=\"2934\">Two operational phases are foreseen:<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"2936\" data-end=\"2948\">PHASE I:<\/strong> Mapping of CH\u2084 emissions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2936\" data-end=\"3050\"><strong data-start=\"2977\" data-end=\"2990\">PHASE II:<\/strong> Quantificat<\/p>\n<p>ion of total emissions at the sites of interest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3052\" data-end=\"3373\">The <strong data-start=\"3056\" data-end=\"3071\">first phase<\/strong> involves one day of measurements to determine CH\u2084 concentrations entering the site. The methane measurement equipment uses a technology called <strong data-start=\"3215\" data-end=\"3283\">\u201cOff-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy\u201d (Off-Axis ICOS)<\/strong>\u2014an infrared spectroscopy method with an LGR instrument with the following specifications:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3375\" data-end=\"3511\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3375\" data-end=\"3409\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3377\" data-end=\"3409\"><strong data-start=\"3377\" data-end=\"3403\">Measurement frequency:<\/strong> 1Hz<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3410\" data-end=\"3460\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3460\"><strong data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3422\">Range:<\/strong> 0 \u2013 500 ppm CH\u2084, 1 \u2013 20,000 ppm CO\u2082<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3461\" data-end=\"3511\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3463\" data-end=\"3511\"><strong data-start=\"3463\" data-end=\"3481\">Accuracy (1\u03c3):<\/strong> &lt;2 ppb CH\u2084 and &lt;300 ppb CO\u2082<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3513\" data-end=\"3932\">A <strong data-start=\"3515\" data-end=\"3541\">meteorological station<\/strong> is installed alongside the analyzers to measure <strong data-start=\"3590\" data-end=\"3666\">local wind speed and direction, temperature, pressure, relative humidity<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"3672\" data-end=\"3691\">solar radiation<\/strong>. Both the analyzers and the weather station are highly portable and allow for <strong data-start=\"3770\" data-end=\"3797\">continuous measurements<\/strong>, making it possible to analyze large areas in a short time. Measurements will be performed both <strong data-start=\"3894\" data-end=\"3916\">outside and inside<\/strong> the study area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3934\" data-end=\"4231\">From these measurements, a <strong data-start=\"3961\" data-end=\"3968\">map<\/strong> will be generated to identify areas with varying emission levels and any <strong data-start=\"4042\" data-end=\"4057\">point leaks<\/strong>. As a result of this phase, a <strong data-start=\"4088\" data-end=\"4098\">2D map<\/strong> showing CH\u2084 concentrations at the studied plant and a <strong data-start=\"4153\" data-end=\"4172\">3D downwind map<\/strong> for off-site measurements will be delivered to the client.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4233\" data-end=\"4557\">In the <strong data-start=\"4240\" data-end=\"4256\">second phase<\/strong>, the total emissions of the target plant are quantified using <strong data-start=\"4319\" data-end=\"4339\">inverse modeling<\/strong>, which includes the reconstruction of a <strong data-start=\"4380\" data-end=\"4413\">digital model of the facility<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"4418\" data-end=\"4471\">national topographic data (LIDAR, 2 m resolution)<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"4472\" data-end=\"4475\" \/>Meteorological conditions are also modeled.<br data-start=\"4518\" data-end=\"4521\" \/>The output of this phase includes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4558\" data-end=\"4733\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"4558\" data-end=\"4611\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4560\" data-end=\"4611\">a <strong data-start=\"4562\" data-end=\"4586\">2D concentration map<\/strong> based on the modeling,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"4612\" data-end=\"4688\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4614\" data-end=\"4688\">a <strong data-start=\"4616\" data-end=\"4638\">table of emissions<\/strong> and their distribution for each surface source,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"4689\" data-end=\"4733\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4691\" data-end=\"4733\">and an <strong data-start=\"4698\" data-end=\"4732\">estimate of result uncertainty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to a measurement campaign conducted along the perimeter of the plant, the SCAN360 \u2013 QUICK SCAN technology for calculating CH\u2084 emissions&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":10152,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-12410","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/12410","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12410"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/12410\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12415,"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/12410\/revisions\/12415"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/10152"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12410"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
