{"id":11847,"date":"2025-01-31T14:10:11","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T12:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/?p=11847"},"modified":"2025-03-25T15:08:36","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T13:08:36","slug":"integrated-climate-and-air-quality-management-plan-for-the-reduction-of-atmospheric-emissions-in-the-cairo-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aria-net.it\/en\/integrated-climate-and-air-quality-management-plan-for-the-reduction-of-atmospheric-emissions-in-the-cairo-area\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Integrated Climate and Air Quality Management Plan for the Reduction of Atmospheric Emissions in the Cairo Area&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The area defined as \u201c<strong>Greater Cairo<\/strong>\u201d is the largest metropolitan region in Egypt, with a total area of 3084.7 km2 and a population of 26 million (in 2023).<\/p>\n<p>Being involved in the drafting of the \u201c<strong>Integrated Climate and Air Quality Management Plan for the Reduction of Atmospheric Emissions in the Cairo Area<\/strong>&#8221; started last summer and funded by the World Bank, is for <strong>ARIANET<\/strong> and the entire <strong>SUEZ \ud835\udc00\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2b&amp;\ud835\udc02\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1e<\/strong> group a great challenge, but knowing to be part of such an ambitious and necessary undertaking in light of the current environmental context is certainly very motivating for our French-Italian team that has just returned from its second mission to Cairo!<\/p>\n<p>It was an intense and productive week, during which the SUEZ Air &amp; Climate team, together with colleagues from <strong>Chemonics Egypt Consultants<\/strong>, engaged with numerous stakeholders, including the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA)\u2014under the Ministry of Environment, the project&#8217;s main beneficiary\u2014as well as representatives from various other ministries.<\/p>\n<p>We also had the honor of being invited to the workshop organized by the World Bank for National Environment Day 2025, during which Egypt&#8217;s Minister of Environment, Yasmin Fouad, reiterated the country&#8217;s commitment to a just green transition, despite global challenges, thus emphasizing how environmental issues are now at the heart of national development and security.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next 24 months, there will undoubtedly be a lot of work ahead, but it is truly motivating to contribute to a project that affects over 20 million people.
