Since last year, ARIANET<\/strong> has been among the signatories of the memoranda of understanding within the PEEX<\/strong><\/a>, (Pan-Eurasian Experiment) a multidisciplinary initiative on climate change, air quality, environment and research infrastructure, focusing on the northern Eurasian regions, in particular the Arctic and Boreal regions.<\/p>\n

The collaboration between PEEX (whose headquarters is hosted by the University of Helsinki and the Finnish Meteorological Institute) with individual research institutes promotes<\/p>\n

\ud83d\uddfa funding opportunities for PEEX-labelled research projects,
\n\ud83d\uddfa the development of coordinated and coherent research infrastructures, and
\n\ud83d\uddfa the joint educational activities.<\/p>\n

The PEEX<\/strong> programme encompasses experimental activities, fundamental research and modelling, with the aim of deepening knowledge on climate change and air quality.<\/p>\n

At the international level, PEEX aims to strengthen its position within the scientific community and major global programmes dedicated to climate, research infrastructure and environmental policies, such as Future Earth<\/strong>, WMO-GAW<\/strong> and GEOSS<\/strong>.\u00a0With this in mind, the programme aims to develop a strong international collaboration network.<\/p>\n

In the context of the 4th Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) Impact Week<\/strong><\/a>, held in Helsinki from 22-25 April 2025, a PEEX seminar was held in a hybrid format (both in-person and online). The event provided an opportunity to present the research and training activities of the PEEX partners and to discuss the prospects for future collaboration on climate change and air quality issues.<\/p>\n

In this context, we presented a contribution on the role of research in ARIANET activities, briefly illustrating the most relevant projects currently underway (Arianet_research_activities_peex_2025<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The following partner institutions and universities also took part in the presentations:
\nAgricultural University of Iceland, Odessa Polytechnic National University, Ukrainian Joint Meteorological and Hydrological Society, University of Belgrade, Istanbul Technical University, Charles University in Prague, Dalian University of Technology, Fudan University, University of Latvia, University of Copenhagen and University of Helsinki.<\/p>\n
