On April 22, 2022, the final Italian event of the European VEG-GAP project took place in Rome, at the Italian Geographic Society. The demonstrative day organized by CREA highlighted the impacts of urban vegetation on meteorology and air quality, and how it can assist urban planning. The ensuing discussion emphasized the importance of increasing awareness among citizens and local authorities about how new trees or greening actions in urban areas can improve or worsen aspects related to livability. ARIANET participated in this event with two specific presentations on the experience of preparing emission inputs for urban vegetation in Milan and the quantification of volatile organic compounds emitted by urban and peri-urban vegetation.
