The company ARIANET, the Air division in Italy, develops, designs, installs, and manages cutting-edge solutions related to air quality management: diagnostics, real-time monitoring, forecasting, and scenario studies, for a proven base of industrial clients, public authorities, and subsidiaries.
To provide the best environmental solutions for our clients, we are strengthening our applied modeling team, which conducts studies and sets up simulation systems at regional and urban scales. In this context, we are looking for an:
Air Quality Modeler
What You Will Do:
You will join the ARIANET division and work on atmospheric modeling, primarily involving the modeling of pollutant dispersion, chemical transformation, and deposition at regional and urban scales. You will use a simulation system based on the FARM (Flexible Air Quality Regional Model), developed by ARIANET in collaboration with national and international research centers and with a wide user base, especially in the public sector. You will contribute to the model’s various applications (reconstruction and forecasting of ambient air quality, source contribution estimation, scenario studies) and progressively participate in the development of new functionalities. You will contribute to the analysis and documentation of applied studies and developments carried out.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in research activities within European projects and contribute to the drafting of scientific publications.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- You have a master’s degree in physics, engineering, environmental sciences, or related fields.
- You have basic knowledge of atmospheric physics and/or meteorology, acquired through university courses or documented post-graduate experience.
- You have basic programming skills with compiled and/or interpreted languages.
Additionally:
- You have strong motivation and interest in actively working in the environmental field.
- You have a good command of the English language and good writing skills.
- You have analytical abilities and good communication skills.
- You can work independently while coordinating within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- You hold a Ph.D. in meteorology, atmospheric physics or chemistry, natural sciences, or environmental engineering.
- You have experience with numerical modeling and scientific programming.
- You possess IT skills related to the development of numerical models and the processing of produced results, in terms of georeferenced maps and statistical analysis.
- You are familiar with Unix/Linux environments and programming languages like Fortran and Python.
- You have experience with high-performance computing environments, code parallelization, and optimization.
