On Friday, ARIANET partecipated to the conference ‘Le molestie olfattive: inquadramento normativo, impatti sanitari, soluzioni tecniche’held in Bari and organised in collaboration with Arpa Puglia and ASL Bari.

The event shed light on an issue that is still too often underestimated, yet has a significant impact on quality of life. The importance of addressing the phenomenon of olfactory harassment through an integrated approach (combining regulatory, technical, and health perspectives while encouraging active public involvement) was strongly emphasised.

In her presentation, Daniela Barbero, on behalf of ARIANET, illustrated the role of atmospheric modelling in studying of olfactory nuisance.

This approach not only allows to assess the current odour impact, but also helps predict to potentially critical scenarios and guide preventive actions. An interesting application case was also presented, involving direct participation of citizens in identifying odour disturbances.

The conference was a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration among agencies, aimed at tackling complex challenges with innovative tools.

Here our contribution to the event.
