On October 19, 2023, in Bologna, the event “Emilia-Romagna Regional Digital Innovation Ecosystem – Where Public Administration and Businesses Meet Digital” took place. Organized by ER2Digit, the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) of Emilia-Romagna, the event addressed the challenges of the Digital Agenda 2020-2025, offering insights and practical solutions to tackle digital transformation and meet #innovation needs.

Speakers from both public administration and business sectors presented their services dedicated to the region.

Camillo Silibello introduced the “QualeAria-Local” project, an example of technological innovation based on the combined use of big data, #supercomputing infrastructures, air quality models, and machine learning models.

So far, #QualeAria-Local has had a significant impact on the following projects:

  • Analysis of #traffic’s contribution to #pollution levels in the Milan urban area;
  • Production of pollution #maps at a 1 km resolution for the Piedmont Region, Lombardy Region, and Autonomous Region of Sardinia, useful for air quality assessment activities and #epidemiological investigations;
  • Development of an operational modeling system that provides air quality forecasts for the #Ferrara urban area at a 200 m #resolution (system implemented as part of the “Air Break” project).

Here is Camillo Silibello’s contribution to the roundtable discussion “Digital Ecosystems for Innovation” (minute 01:26:32 – Roundtable “Digital Ecosystems for Innovation”).
